I am going to france in a cottage which has a tv and a dvd player. I know the tv,s in france are on a different frequency to us so I wonder if anyone can tell me if I record on my own dvd recorder will the dvd disc play on there dvd player. Thanks in advance

I'd agree with that - The TV accepts the output of the DVD player directly so the frequency of broadcasts is not an issue. So long as the DVD will play it the TV should display it.
France has Secam rather than PAL, but TVs and DVD players here are normally multistandard, so ours for instance will show or record BBC from a digibox or French TV. This is automatic so I expect yours to work OK.
