I am going to France can anybody tell me a good cheap phonecard that I can use out there. I have a mobile but it is too expensive to use as I do phone home a lot. thanks

Its been a few years since I have used them but the French Phone cards seem to offer pretty good value and are available in different denominations from lots of places.
In recent years we have used our mobiles as it just so much more convenient. We use text mainly. You just have to be careful you don't have those hour long conversations you have at home! As Twooks mentions the price of using a mobile abroad will be falling quite sharply, I think from the 30th August. At least one brownie point to the European Commission!
We bought a phone card on site when we got there and it cost 7.50 euros. We made about 4 phone calls on it each lasting about 5-10 minutes. It was costing us 40p to send a text with Orange.
just make sure you don't buy the card from the campsite shop as they only tend to sell the higher denomination cards eg 15 euros. Much as i love my family and like to check in when we are away 15 euros was a lot of talk!! Claire
We have bought a One Roam SIM card for our mobile and it works well. To call UK from abroad is 27p per minute, SMS is 24p , it costs nothing to receive calls. To call the mobile from UK you can use various cheap options costing from 13p per minute.
