Hi

I'm looking at taking my family away camping in France next year and wondering if anyone knows of some good campsites (preferably holiday parks) which are easy to get to from the Ferry terminals in Calais. Looking for as cheap as possible also.

Any suggestions would be most greatful.

We stayed at La Croix du Vieux Pont at Berny Riviere. Its about 3 hours from Calais but all major roads - nothing complicated.

It has a lot of things on site - including bar, restaurant, indoor and outdoor swimming pool complex incl slides, 4 lakes, kids amusements (like bouncy castle, go-karts, bike hire etc).

And considering the facilities very reasonably priced. We paid about £400 for a 3 week holiday.

I have stayed at Berny Riviere too and it is an excellent site.

I have also stayed twice at Domaine de Drancourt near St Valery in the Picardy region. This is a really good site too and is about 1.5 hours drive from Calais.

Not sure about prices as i went with Eurocamp but they do have pitches for touring tents.

Good luck and enjoy !

We also stayed at La Croix du Vieux Pont at Berny Riviere. It was fab and loved every minute of it. Very easy to find and something to do for everyone!!

Highly recommend it!

Would not recommend Domaine de Drancourt near St Valery since the bar and restaurant area are seperate from the pool area (the bar is in an upstairs area). There are tons of campsites in France.

Also decide whether you want reliable good weather. Up until this year the rule of thumb I have used is if you want good weather go further south than Nantes.

I think it's a bit harsh to not reccomend Domaine de Drancourt just because of the position of the bar !!

It's a great site and really easy to get to and if you don't mind walking upstairs to the bar then it's perfect !

I have been twice and not even been in the bar but each to their own.
