I'm looking for a campsite on the north coast of Spain (Cantabria, or maybe neighbouring Basque or Asturias) but not had any luck yet.
Trouble is our requirements are quite specific: The campsite must be walking distance from the beach (less than a mile, say), it must be small (less than 300 pitches, say), and it must have pre-erected tents, ie. including cooking facilities, beds, etc.
All I've found so far is Playa Joel, Noja, in the Eurocamp and Keycamp brochures. But this is huge, so I guess would be pretty noisy
- not our scene.

Canvas holidays feature campsites in Spain but not sure where they are, try gogggiling the area that you want to visit and see what they can come up with.
I agree that Playa Joyel is a very large site but when we visited it wasn't all that noisy.
A technique that they use is to turn all the main lights out on the campsite at midnight. This acts as a clear signal to everyone that it is time to be quiet which tends to pretty well respected - although the toilets get busier at this time, as everyone goes for their bedtime washes etc before going to bed

We went to Playa de Oyambre,about 38 miles from Santander,not sure if it has static tents but has log cabins,very good value though.The beach is about a 1km walk,scenery is beautiful nothing like the Costas.Beach is out of this world,campsite staff very friendly.we got flooded out on our one but last night and they gave us a log cabin for the last night free of charge!It has a lovely pool and showers etc were spotless,very little english spoken,but thats what we visit other countries for i guess.This site has a web site with good photos and is also in the Alan Rogers guide of campsites.
