The roads on that side are much narrower and almost as busy. I can only recall seeing 2 sites and both were pretty high up and exposed.....nice views though!
If you fancy staying outside of Annecy we went to le Grand Bornand, I can't find a link in the campsite search although I am sure I did a review that hasn't been posted for some reason?
The site was ok, the pitches aren't that big but it has a pool and is close to a village and in glorious surroundings. You can get into Annecy in half an hour or so and personally I would prefer to be up in the mountains than down at the lake.
When we were at Lake Annecy a few years ago we only saw a couple of very small sites on that side of the Lake. I think it might be because the shadow of the mountains blocks the sun from that side until mid morning. On the west bank you get sun from early morning which helps to warm you up in the morning as we found the nights to be very cold.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I agree with the others - there is not much on the east side of the lake. I saw one small and basic site and I don't know if it takes caravans. The SW corner is pretty quiet too - well away from busy Annecy. We stayed at La Ravoire and loved it. Quiet, beautifully kept and handy for getting just about anywhere - the big mountains, Annecy (by cycle track), into the hills and forests around and about. Well worth considering - see our review. Only thing is, don't remember seeing any dogs, but I could be wrong.
