HI all,

Just a quick noe on one of your usually hottest topics for France but I can't see anything about Germany. I have read all the advice on stopping by the side of the road at "Aires" in France but there seem to be tons of "AutoHof" truck-stops by the side of the autobhans in Germany. Has anyone got any advice aout stopping in these for a few hours kip before getting on with the journey.

Many Thanks you helpful lot.

Haven't tried 'autohof' but you should check out 'stellplatz'

I used to stop at these places in me truck yrs ago in Germany-nobody would mind you stopping there but they get pretty packed at night & I might worry me caravan or motorhome might get clouted by a manoevering truck--they are normally just off the autobahn & can be spotted by a tower with an illuminated sign on top--you could just stop at a normal services of course --

Having stayed overnight on German motorway rest places, I would avoid it if I could. By and large they are more crowded, nearer the main road, and noisier than those in France. Thats a generalisation of course and there probably are some acceptable ones.

As said above, try "Wohnmobil-Stellplatz". Many towns have them, most of which are free! Down here along the Neckar there are plenty right at the river.

On the other hand, fuel tends to be cheaper at the "Autohof" compared to "Autobahnraststätte"
