Fred and Wilma - why don't you do an overnight stop or stay for a day or two either on the way down, or the way back! That way you get to the Costa Brava - and see Carcassone in the one trip. If you don't want to put the tent up for just a night or two, then there are plenty of budget hotels in and around Carcassone and area (outside of the old Cite, obviously).
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
A friend of mine visited Le brasilia this summer and had a great time. I believe the entertainment was very good and the campsite very pretty. There is a campsite map on their website, you could always choose a plot well away from earshot of the stage. There is a little train which brings you into the resort; I don't think it's very far.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
