After much searching I thought it might be an idea to seek help! I'm after a cheap ferry crossing from Portsmouth to France for 11th Jan returning 13th or 14th Jan. Destination is Paris or thereabouts, so any North coast feasable. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sailings from Portsmouth tend to go to Caen or St Malo both of which are a fair distance for Paris (and are quite expensive too!) I would recommend you drive the extra distance to Dover and cross to Calais/Dunkerque which are only 2-3 hours drive to Paris. I find the cheapest crossing is usually Norfolk Line (around the £50 mark for a car + 5 )

Ok yes thats about what I came up with, may sound naive but I hadn't realised how expensive Eurostar is! as that is what I had planned to do. I am only planning a weekend at disney as an anniversary present for the Mrs and really wanted to make the travel as straight forward as possible, which is unusual as we are the ones who drove to the south of France in our classic mini cooper this summer! Will have to decide on either increasing the budget (although Portsmouth - Le havre arrives quite late in France which will make things tricky) or put up with the travel, or scrap idea and think of something else to do!!!

Thanks to both of you for your help!

Mike

You'll possibly get budget flights cheaper than anything else!  Flights can be almost given away these days.  If you're in the West Country check out flights from Bristol, or Southampton - both have lots of budget offers - and Paris may be amongst these - then hire a car for a day or two when you arrive.

The Dover routes will be cheapest-Calais to Eurodisney is about 170 miles-motorway most of the way--imho its a much easier drive to Eurodisney(which is to the east of Paris) than from the other ports-
