I have just done a calculation for my March crossing and at £43 is very attractive! but mrs metroman is a confirmed P&O fan and won't entertain anyone else. Can someone help me sell Norfolkline to her and save myself £47 which is a tank full of fuel.

metroman.

If you do a search you will find threads where people are in favour. We love them - better ships, no crowds, no stench of chips.

I have heard nothing bad about them and have booked to go over with them in May.

My brother wholeheartedly recommends them!   Go for it!  And there's lots of local camping sites along Dunkirk coastal road for a early stop on route, there and back.

We used Norfolkline last summer and found them to be very good, have previously used P&O and thought they were fine too but not anything special

Ships are nearly new, coaches not allowed, more room for the caravans, less queues at the tills. Dunkerque port is a bit basic though and a bit further to travel depending on where you are going.

Great, we always use them. We have used P&O once but then went back to Norfolkline.

Used them twice last summer with no problems.  Nice ships, plenty of seating. On time for all 4 crossings.  Couldn't ask for better to be honest.

Its just getting across the channel, less than 2 hours so use the cheapest--as far as the ships are concerned theres little to choose between them--obviously P&O have more sailings so if you are early or late for your booking you will have less time to wait-also depending which way you are going when you get to France-you will have more, less(by about 20 miles) or the same distance to go compared with Calais--also Dunkerque can be slightly confusing in the dark if you aint been before--

We used them last year for the first time and to show what we thought of them we have booked to go with them again this year. Last year we should have caught the ferry at 6 a.m. but arrived at 8pm the night before and caught the 10pm ferry without having to pay any more.

Best ferry we've been on. Originally booked for the low price - now our first choice. Can't fault them.

Get her to read the threads.  Norfolkine are fab, no comparison with P and O in my opinion!

just looked at Norfolk Line for our crossing in August and it came out at £88 whereas P & O came out at £140 for a likewise crossing and seen as I like to spend my money on me I think I know which one I'll be booking, plus kids will be happy as it's a slightly longer crossing (will just have to take some seasickness tablets beforehand )

Dunkerque is great because it plugs straight into the European  arterial road network. There are better options for the West of France though. I hate the drag across the north of France but that's a personal thing
