Hi CC, its a long way and speaking from experience it is a very tiring day. You would be far better going to Disney as a seperate trip and staying in a keycamp/ canvas tent or mobile. We have 4 nights booked in a top of the range mobile mext month for £149 40 mins from DP. Or take your FC but I think the tour ops prices out of season take some beating (and the crowds will be less than August)
imagine the train journey back which must be over 2hrs plus a change in Paris.

It appears that there is a mass exodus from Mid-wales to Saumur this year. We`re going in august.
Your best bet is to get the TGV from Angers but if the kids are sub 12 i would insist on Le puy , ours loved it last year, much more than disneyland.........their words not mine.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Hi weve done Puy du fou twice, whilst staying in Saumur, great day but a little frustrated as both times all language was in french, and no translation was available, am learning the language myself but kids got a little frustrated when didnt know what was going on. Ive found the following info re train station, see below.
The station nearest is in Saumur (15 km). The connections with Paris are often, either by Angers (TGV +TER), or by Tours (TGV or Coral +TER).
The ways in the TGV last between 1h40 and 2h30, and cost between 41 and 56 euros. you do not mislead in station: the TGV leave Paris-Montparnasse NB: there is a direct TGV Paris-Montparnasse/ Saumur: departure 18h40/arrived 20h29he station nearest is in Saumur (15 km). The connections with Paris are often, either by Angers (TGV +TER), or by Tours (TGV or Coral +TER).
Have a great time, we did last year, both parks cater for kids as you know. Long day but what the heck!!!!!!
Hi there, we are also off to L'Etang and I spent a long time researching Paris trip, as kids want to go to Eiffel tower. I reckon best route is drive to Tours (48mins according to Michelin) then train to Montparnasse (eg 9.38 arr 10.35) costing 102 Euro for 2 adults & 2 children. Tours station is called St Pierre des Corps, and you need to use that name on the train website. I also think you can't book trains more than 90 days or so in advance, so I was using June dates to do my research. I presume price is dependent on how far in advance you book, as I think there are limited nos of cheaper seats.
I reckon Angers is 54 mins from campsite and train is 1h30 to Montparnasse.
Please let me know if anyone has any other ideas on this!
Can't help with the train but if this is any help, we stayed at Jablins last August and only 5 mins drive to Disney about 3 hours from the Eurotunnel. Disney wasn't that busy in August que's shorter than at New Year and Feb half term.

You can buy an inexpensive guidebook at the shop which will explain the plots for the various shows. Most of them are pretty simple swash and buckle though.
CaddyClan, I think you should have another go at persuading your tribe to go to the Puy rather than Disneyland and leave Mckeyfor another year when you're a little closer. The thought of making a three hour journey at each end of a day in Disneyland makes me feel quite ill on your behalf! The Puy is indeed very french but belive me, it's none the worse for that and in fact is by far the best theme park we've ever been too, not to mention one of the best laid out and least stressful to negotiate. We've always been there in mid July and though it's been busy we've never had to stand in two hour queues for rides, and we've basically been able to walk into each and every show we wanted to go to on schedule. It's set up so that you can see everything in one day, if you get organised, with some extra time for just wandering around to see the excellent static stuff, eat and do some shopping. We've not yet gone to the evening show (small daughter is only just six) so when we've left at 5-ish pm for the drive back to the campsite (usually we're less than an hour away) we feel that we've had a full, busy day and seen everything completely plus not wasted half the time in queues. Both adults and kids have had a good time and we don't feel ripped off by the prices either. The kids and I are usually knackered, btw, fall asleep in the car immediately and we hit the carry out at the campsite rather than cook.
At the moment I'm organising a two day visit to Eurodisney as part of our summer trip. Now we'll be camping within a twenty minute drive of the park but frankly, after reading some of the websites about how busy it is in July, I'm dreading the whole experience. Even with FastPasses it sounds as if we're going to spend at least 50% of the day standing in a queue for something. And expensive! I can't belive I'm going to be paying that much money for a day out, especially one I don't want to be going to anyway. Trust me, if I had to spend three hours each way on a train just to get there, it wouldn't be happening.
(We are going to go to Parc Asterix too though...very french and we can do it on Tesco vouchers. Now that's more my sort of day out!)
There's a pretty good service into Paris Gare Montparnasse from Saumur. I know because a friend of mine uses it to get to work in Paris each week. From Montparnasse it's then another hour at least on the subway to get to EuroDisney, perhaps longer. I think you're better off leaving it too. Le Grand Parc Puy du Fou is an awesome day out.
You can get a headset at the Puy du Fou which provides a translation of the commentary. We didn't do it last year as were advised that on your first trip that there's so much to take in you don't really need it. Plan to rent a couple this year though. My kids (just turned 7 & 4) can't wait to go back.
I reckon we can do train to Montparnasse and pre-book lunch in the cheaper of the two Eiffel tower restaurants (thus missing out a lot of queuing there) for far less than Disney. Just must make sure my boys don't bump into anyone who does do Disney from L'Etang.
We once had to get the train from Tours to Paris, it seemed a long journey. I can't remember exactly how long it took because we then had to go across Paris and get a train up to Dunkerque! I wouldn't like to do it again.
