does any-one know whether August 1st will be the first day of the national holidays or whether they will all be working on the friday and off from 5pm that day? It just affects how far we plan to travel before we stop on our first day. Having got stuck in traffic jams last year in a car that overheats before it thinks about it (great fun in the lion enclosure in Longleat I can tell you) I'd rather not risk too long a journey if lots of others will be too!

The French hols start on Bastille Day July 14th and finish on the Feast of Assumption August 15th. Best to plan not to travel on the weekend after Bastille day or the weekend before Assumption. Otherwise you should be OK.

We have enjoyed some amazing firework displays at Luczern and Vevey on national day in Switzerland, not to be missed!
