yeh, stayed there a few years ago, popular with french families, reasonable eats [take away and restaurant] bar n pool, handy for bus services if you don't want to drive, nice people

Pam, Pornic's a lovely town. It's very, very popular with the French as a resort rather than Brits. The beaches aren't bad but I dunno how far from that site they are. The harbour area's lovely to stroll around of an evening too. Lots of little craft shops, cafés etc.
the beach is not too bad - I would guess their estimate of distance is about right. seem to remember it lost quite a bit of its space at high tide - but with my memory - we do tend to stick to coastal sites so I might be mixing it up with somewhere else - seem to remember beach and rocks going off either side of access road
but Pornic is nice and that stretch of the coast heading north / north westish is also worth a day trip. Quieter than the Vendee area which we find a bit overpowering and crowded

I think you'll enjoy it, as I said there were lots of French families there - which I always think is a good sign
have fun - and the St Nazaire bridge is worth a drive over anyway - if you have time on your travels have a look at the car museum at Loheac - and / or the Salt Marsh area La Guerande - the food is excellent - and not too far off your route
mmmmmmmmm

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Am interested in how you got on at La Boutinardiere. We are booked there in a couple of weeks and is our first time ever camping. Any tips from anyone would be useful. We have an Outwell Montana 6 tent and have just bought an EHU and adaptor as we have booked for a 10 amp power supply.
Well we was going there with our caravan and we used touring cheques but you don't book a site with theses, so we had not booked, anyway we got there at 8pm all tired as we had driven from carn, and we dint really like the place to much only because the swimming pool and toilets was not finished, so we stopped one night, meanwhile the same night we went to look at another site not far away call Le Pattisseue not sure if that is the right spelling, and really like it so we mover the next morning at 9 am to there, but we did go back with my daughter to show them as they joined us a week after we got there and the pool was looking really nice nd round the pool the restaurant etc and toilets was nearly finished, sorry it it sounded so negative to start of with, but i had to tell the truth. this is only a 3 star place, and the 4 star we went to was a lot nicer, the beaches not far called Le Bernice la retz is a lovely place we went thee a lot and the Friday market is well worth a visit, any more info just asked and i will try to help
