hi guys new to the site. Me n the wife are having a change this year and going to france armed with a tent! we are heading west france(pays de la loire) area then as a surprise we'll be heading to outskirts of paris as a finale. ive already booked the ferry with good times but id like to know what to expect to pay campsite wise. we are going 5th to 11th july. i was wondering wether it would be easier to book or just drive and turn up. i fancy a small just off coast place called lucon as our first stop then wherever around paris. i just dont want us to be sleeping in the car!. from what friends have said we will find it easy to get a lovely off beat campsite with all the facilities but would just like to make sure. many thanks for any advise karl

Hi, im sure youll have a ball, its not high season then, so if i were you id just travel and take in the sites, and pull up at a site that suits you. Weve been for past 6 yrs, and the municipal site are really cheap, some as little as 7euro per night. I wouldnt get too stressed about booking. Just take a good map, with a general idea of sites within the area, and play it by ear.

Municipal sites have showers/toilets often very good in the paris area they may around 12-15€pn as prices have risen. good way of finding campsites before you go is google the name of the town & clic 'herbergments'(accomodation) THe nearest campsite to Paris centre is Bois du Boulogne website here
