im sure there is a carrefour near caen, will ask oh as he comes from that region

There is a huge Carrefour at Herouville St Clair. its on the outskirts of Caen off the main road to the port, towards Ouistreham and is signposted "Centre Commercial".

There is also a Wine Warehouse in Ouistreham itself which is OK I think it is called the Normandie Wine Warehouse. Its minutes from the port.

Yup, and it's huge. You need your satnav to get round it. Good place for wine though.
