Very nice site, very clean and well laid out, they have dammed part of the river into a small lake and leave 4 or 5 canoes with life jackets and paddles for the kids to use free of charge.

The restaurant on site is excellent, but you have to book. The bar area and terrace is good and they run the usual low key entertainment on site.

Its a good location close enough to the Ardeche without all the traffic etc.

The area is very scenic and excellent if you like outdoor stuff, mountain biking, walking, climbing, gorge scrambling, canoeing etc.

Highly recommended, oh and the owners come round with a bottle of wine on your last night from the vinyard on site!

Superb site in a beautiful location. We have been 3 times before and will be there again this year late July /early August. Agree with everything in Kevinm's reply.

Largentierre is a great village for a stroll, we especially enjoy the evening market - hair braids & henna tattoos for the children! Not far is Balazuc, Labeaume and loads of other pretty villages including Laurac-en-Vivarais (which is where they filmed 'A place in France' about opening an Indian Restuarant).

The Ardeche (the river) can be busy for canoeing and shallow in places in high summer. Head up the 'La Baume' river for some really great places to go swimming and plunging in rock pools, well away from the busy areas of the Ardeche. You can also drive through the Ardeche gorge stopping to view the scenary.

The whole area is a bit of a geology theme park of rock formations, caves etc and head north from the Campsite you will even see larva flow rock formations and craters.

Highly recommend the area and campsite. Very helpful and friendly owners.

Thank you so much Kevinm and Oliver Day for your comments re Les Ranchisses. It is so good to get the views from someone who has been there.
