Most sites in France use the same 3 pin , blue connector that is commonly used in the UK. however, you will still come across the continental 2 pin connector in use. You can purchase a 2 pin to 3 pin adaptor which uses a short cable from most UK camping stores. Some people take two of these wired up to cater for possible polarity changes. I have personally never had a problem with polarity since 1986, but expect postings from lots of people who have. Not sure about Belgium ( did use3 pin at a site in Dunkirk) and Holland.

many sites - particularly in the Netherlands and Belgium and Luxembourg have the 'new' blue 3-pin - but a lot of sites particularly in France seem to have a mix.
as dinkum sez, polarity changes can be an issue - primarily because it is irrelevant to them -
best bet - is to get a length of the 'blue' and swap live and neutral - but make sure it is clearly marked ;-))
there is an excellent explanation in a thread somewhere
try searching on 'polarity'
