The Dordogne is very lush and green, yet some people seem surprised if they get rain, which seems a bit silly to me. When we went we had mostly dry and warm weather, with a couple of spectacular thunderstorms that were very furious and heavy, but didn't last too long. We had a few overnight showers too, but when the sun came out it dried out very quickly.
I wouldn't say it was Med. type weather, it is wetter in the Dordogne, but you are more likely to get decent and prolonged amounts of sunshine than you do further North. If you want parched, arid, desert like conditions though, don't go somewhere with lush green valleys ;-)
Huw (TethersEnd) only posts when he's there if it's sunny and hot....just to rub our noses in it. ;-P

For the same distance we travelled can do Lake Garda in Italy next year which is now the plan.
Can I borrow your map, or your calculator, because when i went to SP from Calais it was approx 520 miles. When I went to Lake Garda this year it was749 miles.
HI Huw and family , it was nice to meet you and your family , and thanks for helping my none swimming wife jill to wade out to the island on the Dordogne river , the weather was extremely warm while we were there ,some days we had temperatures to 32 C ,with one night of rain , and one overcast day , i just couldnt believe the clarity of the river water , i shall be returning again
We were in the Dordogne from 25th July to 11th August. During that time, we had one morning thunderstorm (lasted about 2 hours), a couple of cloudy mornings (TBH was quite a relief as temps were often mid 30s) and one storm overnight (complete with high winds!). The weather was lovely - temps ranged from 28c - 38c during our time there.
It started raining the day we left, and from what I gather from my father in law who lives in the Dordogne, the weather was a bit ropey from the 11th for that week.
