Google Etap hotels search for Lyon then get the post code from the info and put it into Viamichelin.com or a satnav if you have one. They are better than F1 but I find not as good as Premiere Classe.

On a recent post for F1 hotels, a number of posters recommended Etap motels, there are 10 in the Lyon region.
Could someone help by telling me which ones are close to the autoroute to the Med.
Thanks
I've looked at the Etap hotels in Lyon, but have decided that I prefer the location of the Hotel Formule 1 at Chanas, just off the A7 autoroute South of Lyon. Lyon is quite big and the Etap's all seemed to be "in the thick of it" in the City. Gives us a 250km drive the following day to the coast, which is just about right.

We've just driven past this Formule 1 and I have to say I didn't like the look of the area. It's very close to the motorway- which is fine as it's good for access. However it appeared to have a large housing estate very near it on the other side. Nothing wrong with housing estates but this one didn't look that nice.
We spent quite a lot of time looking at it on Saturday as the traffic was horrendous!!
I'm probably a bit slow off the mark, but if you book more than 30 days in advance using the accorhotels site you can usually find an Ibis for (as near as darn it) the price of a formule, often a euro or 2 cheaper than an etap.

If memory serves (although it often doesn't) we paid 28 Euro pn at the IBIS in Beaune this year.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

Oh, that's worth knowing. Thanks. Will have a further look around then.
Right, have had another look around and the following are possibles:
F1 Lyon Chasse Sur Rhone
Etap Hotel Lyon Saint Genis Laval
F1 Lyon Solaize
We'd prefer a F1 if possible as we need two rooms and it will eat into our holiday budget if we end up having to shell out E100 a night on better hotels.
