We are travelling through France, Spain, & Portugal, Then on to Africa, Morrocco, Western Sahara / Mauritania, Senagal, & finally The Gambia. get a yellow fever jab from your drs/ travel clinic and take malaria tablets. I am a practice nurse and have seen two people this year with malaria after having been to the Gambia. Allow £60 for YF jab and £25-50 for malaria tablets depending on how long you will be in Senegal and the Gambia. You will also need to be up to date with diptheria/tetanus/polio booster and have Hepatitis A and Typhoid jabs (these ones are free)

Oh and have a great time!!!

I was hospitilised in the old south middx hospital for infectious diseases on my return from a 9 month overland trip to Southern Africa with Malaria, very nasty.I had the runs preatty much all the time through Zaire and was passing my malaria tabs straight through. Finally got ill descending Kilimanjaro and had an awful trip lasting several days on the floor of a truck to get to the aga khan hospital in Nairobi. From my experience the hardest part of travel in Africa is staying well.I believe the route to Banjul is relatively comfortable but when you get ill it can be hard finding good medical help.

Take a selection of youre own syringes, very nice when out on the sticks to know youre needles are new.

For a few pics have a look at my homepage.

Be careful crossing the sahara and if you get a sandstorm you will find sand in every orifice imaginable,an arab head dress is a god scend given those conditions.
