I've already booked this breakdown cover for our 2 weeks away - its cheap because the caravan is covered free of charge.
However, you never know how good a company is until you have to use them in an emergency.
I have used Europ Assistance in the past, which was the breakdown cover offered by Eurocamp, but when we broke down in the middle of France - absolutely hopeless! The Europ Assistance operator was worse than useless, with them telling me one thing and my husband a completely contradictory thing. In the end we were sat at the side of the road for over two hours before the garage even reached us.
Absolute nightmare end to the holiday.

Wouldn't it be good to have a top 10 classification on this site. ie. top 10 breakdown insurers, top 10 overnight hotels/b&bs. Maybe we can devise our own.
Red Pennant for us . Had to use them this year because our car broke down ,they were absolutly superb . We had the use of a hire`d car throughout our stay. Our own car was unable to be repaired so they flew us home, this was all taken care of without any fuss . car and caravan transported home a couple of days after us.
This year it is £82 for 7 - 12 days or £107 for 13 - 24 days. This covers your outfit and 2 people for both breakdown and personal cover. Additional passengers over 5 years old are £12.
They are not cheap but as has been said many times already the service is first class. I had to use them last year and they did everything they said they would do, when they said they would do it.
I always use Red Pennant, for the last few years I have taken out the annual cover. What you have to remember about Red Pennant is that it is a comprehensive insurance covering the passengers as well.
I can recommend the RAC Arrival scheme available to CCC members. This is not cheap (c.£250 p.a. for the full service), but it gives the full range of RAC cover all year round, in both UK and Europe, for car(s) and caravan. We have used this for over ten years now, have needed to use the service twice in that time while abroad with the 'van and found the service to be excellent.
I am with Norwich Union...approx £90 per anum for full European & GB breakdown cover. Had to use them in France this year as I had a flat battery. Highly recommend them, they were with me 15 minutes after my phone call to them
