I would like to inform anyone hoping to go to Ireland this year that the prices in the Republic of Ireland ( Eurozone) have shot up due to the recession and that huge numbers of people are travelling to Northern Ireland ( Sterlingzone) to do their shopping on a daily and weekly basis.
I love the Republic but also N.I. and it might be worth looking at travelling to Northern Ireland in the present monetary climate as you will get a lot more for your buck. We also have a lot of lovely places and sites in N.I.
At least you are now informed before you travel.

Used to go to South of Ireland regularly, for our summer holidays. Costs there have risen a lot,we have friends who live there and they would agree.
Now even though we have to pay for the ferry, it's better value for money to holiday in GB.
Some of the sites in S. Ireland are quite expensive and don't have a lot of facilities.
The scenery in the North is every bit as good, pity about the weather, but that's no different to anywhere else at the moment.
Quite agree, the cheapest site we found in the Republic in 2006 was EUR15, which was about £11 then, now £15, and most of them are dearer. A pity. At least there are some CLs in the north, and it is lovely as well.

I wouldn't mind trying Ireland, but the Ferry is very expensive, the sites are expensive and the place is wet. So if we do go, it will not be camping.

You might find the ferry prices from Stranraer or Cairnryan(in Scotland) are not as expensive as those directly into South of Ireland.
Stena sails from Stranraer to Belfast.
P&O sails from Cairnryan to Larne.
Both ports in Scotland are close to each other.
Belfast and Larne are within 20mls(approx) of each other. So if anyone was thinking of coming to N. Ireland, it would be a matter of checking which one of the two had the cheapest fare.
Also we have no toll motorways "yet"!
