I'm trying to work out my route from Roscoff to St Jean De Monts. Some route planners suggest going via Rennes & Nantes while others recommend a more coastal route via Vannes. Can someone tell me which route is the easiest to follow / fastest ? Thanks.

Bit of 6 of one and half dozen, but my choice would be Quimper/Lorient/Vannes. I like the coast road once you get on it. There is or was a plan in France to link up all the northern ports with a "fast" road, ie Calais, round to St Nazaire. Don't know if it is because thereof, but the coast road is quite good. Your choice, have fun.
I second Frogman. You won't miss the turning for the peripherique and wind up going through the middle of Nantes.
Led to a classic "no we are not lost - I know exactly where to go!" conversation...
Definately agree with the above......fantastic bridge that you go over in St Nazaire, but it can sometimes be busy. You'll see the queue going over it from a couple of miles away, a bit like the Dartford crossing.

It is a spectacular crossing, and unlike Dartford, it is free!
