Me the wife and 3 kids are thinking about traveling to vendree via calais in june, i am looking to stop over 2 nights on the way down and 2 on the way back, can anyone recommend a good campsite,

we are first timers abroad in our tent so any help would be greatly received.

It depends how far you want to drive on your first day. From Calais to the vendee coast is around an 8 or 9 hour drive. It can be done in a day if you're desperate to get there. Otherwise, think about stopping in the Alençon/Le Mans area (good municipal site at Beaumont sur Sarthe), or continue a bit further and find a site. In June there'll be no need to book, so Google campsites in the area you think is at the limit of your driving endurance. This site has possibly the best searchable campsite listing on the 'net for France.
