We're going to France in August, our main stay is on a site near the Pont Du Gard, about 30 Km from Avignon.

We're thinking about possibily spending 3 maybe 4 extra nights on a campsite on the way home. Ideally five or so hours in the direction of Calais, not far off the root home. Has any one got good suggestions as to where to stay? There are five of us altogether, two adults & three kids the oldest being five, the youngest sixteen months.

The other option we're consider is that I drive my wife & kids to Grenoble airport & they fly to Poland - to my wives family. I'll then be left on my own to make the 1000 mile journey back home to the West Midlands by myself. The thougth being that it is probably easier for me to do the journey by myself without the kids. Having said that, the thought of doing the journey by myself feels rather daunting, and I'm really not sure what the best option is. However, as it happens we're already staying on two sites, and the idea of unpacking & packing a Monty 6 with all the gear three times seems also very daunting!

Any suggestions?

Buy a couple of popup tents for your overnight stops.

Campanile/Formula One etc. Worth every penny.
It is a long, long way Calais to Avignon. We do an overnight near Calais, and another one about half way in Burgundy.
The area you are going is just plain fantastic. Have a great time.

I believe all 5 can share 1 family room in a hotel bb

family rooms book first - suggest you sort it out on line well in advance - you can cancel free of charge up to the day you arrive
