Back two weeks ago and the fish were spawning!!. Usually after they have done "the deed" they have a good feed. The new lake is very very weedy and you would have to get one of the spots that you can use that is weed free. Saying that I have read on the carp forum of a +30lb fish out of the new lake and several good sized fish out of the boating lake since our return home.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
No the boating lake is fine, always fish one rod in the margins or under one of the overhanging trees. Also worth trying something different IE maize, prawns, catmeat etc.
Tight lines and have a good trip and let us know what you catch as we go back out mid June.
We are heading for our first ever trip to france in july and staying at La Croix de vieux point for 7 nights and then heading to stay at Davy Crocket ranch, Disney for last 3 nights.
We picked to stay here for the location and also the reviews are really good, hoping to find sunshine too...
Advice welcome

We were at this site for Whit week. Lovely large site. Weather was great for 4 days out of 7 so couldn`t complain. Loads to do for the kids, good pools, beach next to the lake, boat hire, football pitch etc. It was our first trip to France and were loved this site and hope other sites in France are as good. Takeaway was a bit steep and the site shop, epecially for bottle of coke etc and 3 kids to feed. There is a local supermarket in the near village or a large Cora supermarket about 10miles away in Sossions of which you will be spoilt for choice. Found shopping in the supermarkets about the same as over in England price wise and the kids loved the French food which was a bonus.
We did a day trip to Parc Asterix which we found a bit disppointing really compared to Alton Towers etc. It didn`t help that it rained that day.
We did find there was a lack of entertainment at the bar area with a band on only on a Friday night.
Some good trips to Peirrefonds were they were filming merlin at the time, lovely chateau. A cathedral at Laon and the castle at Couchy.
It sounds like its going to be just what we are hoping for. We have 4 children (twin boys age 12, girls 11 & 7) I need to try and get to know the local area so we can visit some of the little villages etc, Would love to find a proper market!
We are planning a day (cost permitting, perhaps 2 days) into Paris. We are thinking that we will drive to a nearby railway station and take the train in to Paris though... no driving! lol. Can anyone recommend a station or know how much it costs per adult/child? Is it easy to negotiate, I don't speak much French, only what I can remember from school, in fact my children probably know more than me as they have been learning it in school for the past 2 years.
Also is the Val d Europe nearby too? I've got to get a little shopping in whilst I'm there.
Thanks again,

val d'europe and disney area is approx 1 hours drive away
we love la croix Du Vieux Pont,we have been twice and going again in Oct half term ( we stay in mobile homes with the SUN cheapy holidays!)
lots to do for our 2 boys we don't go in for evening entertainment much, so not sure what that is like ? ( we did see bingo and karaoke advertised last time we were there lol) also didnt think the onsite restaurant was all that good, but we tend to self cater anyway
we use it as part of a disney holiday, few days at the parks and few days recovering / chilling !

We love 'Le Croix de Vieux Pont' and have been every Easter for the past 9 years, next year will be our 10th trip. We've driven to Val D'Europe and parked the car there, and then got the train into Paris. We've also done the same thing from Soissons, obviously more expensive but cannot remember how much, sorry. As for evening entertainment, we go with 3 other families so we make our own. The kids absolutely love it there-they really enjoy the football pitch, the pools and slides, feeding the ever-hungry ducks and cycling round the park. We thought the take-away wasn't too bad price wise, but would agree that Cora in Soissons is the place to go for shopping, what a fantastic patisserie! Have a fun holiday.
This sounds just like the holiday I am hoping for!
This week we bought a Tomtom with european maps,so hopefully we won't get lost on route or whilst we are there. We are travelling from the North of Scotland, making 2 nights stops on the way down south and then morning ferry and direct to our campsite. We've never driven abroad before, so I'm quite nervous about the whole thing and I don't even plan to do the actual driving in France! lol.
Does anyone know how I can find out about any local markets?

There's quite a large market in Soissons, (we happened to be there on market day once) but I can't remember which day of the week. The campsite will be able to give you the best information - they usually have tourist information available on what is going on around the area.

It was our first trip driving abroad as well and I actually preffered it to driving in the UK once I got used to driving on the right and no hold ups from the numerous roadworks we have other here. The roads I found were a lot more quite than other here. We used a sat nav and it found us the route fine and also had a fairly long journey from the North East. Did it it one day travelling overnight.
