There are a couple of Premier Inns in the Portsmouth Area. I have never stayed at any however, I know there is one at Cosham which is just outside of Portsmouth and just off the M27 and they certainly have parking. I have just "googled" and it is the premier inn at Port Solent. As I say it is just off the M27 on the way out from Portsmouth so handy for motorways etc.
We stayed at that Travelodge last year. It's clean, very close to the ferry, quite easy to find. The back rooms overlook the fairly secure car park. The only problem we had was a (very) nearby pub blasting music to the wee hours. To avoid the noise as best you can, ask for a room at the back, as high up as possible.

I always stay in the Farm House, its a Best Western Inn with a fancy resturant and great pub next door, 5 mins from port, big car park, never had any trouble.
Go out the Ferry port and on to the M275 for about a mile take the first exit go to the traffic lights and turn left its about 50yds on left after the Holiday Inn and is one set of traffic lights off the slip roads to get back on the M27. less than 5 minutes from the ferry port
There is a a pizza hut, KFC and restaurant/pub all close walking range and you are clear of the city traffic next morning
