Ok route planned in my head now....:

1 week in Carcasonne

1 week in Marseille/Toulon/Monaco area

1 week in Italian Lakes

Across Switzerland to Paris for 4 days

So family of 5 including 3 kids of 9, 6 and 4 who like good swimming pools and activities to keep them busy!

What sites can you recommend in Italian Lakes area?

There are literally dozens of campsites around Lake Garda, try googling Lake Garda campsites I am sure you will find something that suits your needs.  We stayed at Camping Butterfly in Pescheira an ideal site if you have children.

You dont say what sort of outfit you are using, Italian pitches can be on the small side.

Bella Italia at Peschiera del Garda might suit. It is a large and busy site but has some excellent family facilities. There is a review on here if you do a search.
