Sue n roy, ditto the same as what glyn had just said. we stayed at la guyionerre and got back this morning
we had a wondeful time in the vendee, first time there but will probabbly aim to go there again next year as we enjoyed it so much. Apremont lake is great, we took our canoes and went rock jumping there too. We also went to the water park one day and drove back along the causeway when it was low tide. . . . . i could go on and on. you will have a great time!!!

Just got back from Domaine de la Foret in St Julien at the weekend. Went for the same 3 weeks as last year and weather much better. Only one day when it rained and a couple of cloudy days but even these cleared up by late afternoon for a glorious evening. So wishing we were still there. Booked our pitch for next year before we left so counting down till we're there again!!
Just going off topic slightly - we had a bit of a hiccup on the journey home. We had booked 2 pitches for caravans at Camping municipal L'Olympic at Wimereux for our overnighter before crossing wi the tunnel. When we arrived, the site was full apart from the 2 pitches we'd reserved but, although the pitches were big enough, due to the hedges and narrow lanes, we couldn't get either of our caravans on them. Ended up ringing Eurotunnel and for £30 each got on a train a couple of hours later and got back home at 2am. Vendee to Lancashire (750 miles) in one, quite long, journey

Recently back from Domaine De La Foret in St Julien Des Landes, not far from Sables - a lovely break and a fantastic area. Sables is a very charismatic town and the beach is enormous and well patrolled by lifeguards. A little tip for you - there is an underground Vinci car park underneath the Casino at the north end of the beach that was always half empty whenever we used it, you literally step out of the car park door, cross the road and you are on the beach, I think it's called Atlantes. There are some very reasonable bars & restuarants in the Port Peche area 5mins walk from the beach.
Just back from Les Genets at St Jeans de Mont. Cheated this year and hired a mobile.
Great for the kids. Nice and relaxed. 4th time in the area (though once before with ex wife and once ex girlfriend. New wife been twice - that's enough).
Apremont lovely. Beaches all good all the way up the coast.
Happy hols.

We just got back from St Julien des LAndes too. Went to les Sables on a few occasions. We loved the canoing in les Salines in Les Sables. The weather was great when we were there.
Thanks for all the positive comments, this has made even more eager to go, now only 3 sleep nights till the off.
We hope we have as much fun as you all did, we will look out for the places you have mentioned.

Hi all thanks for all the replies and the good info.
We would like to say to all not to use Les Roses, it is a site to be avoided by us brits, as the staff there clearly only want French campers. On our arrival we stopped at the barrier, the caravan half way in the main road, and the wife rushed to reception, she was greeted, but as soon as the staff notice we were English they spoke to a Frenchman behind and proceeded to book him in, he then demanded we move to let him pass, we off course had no choice but to wait, as did the Frenchman.
On setting up a few of the French campers were amazed by the motor mover, we tried to converse but were ignored. At the bar the French were served before us.
At reception we once again asked if they speak English, again the answer was no, we then said we were leaving, guess what they spoke perfect English then!!!!!
We have now moved to La Garangeoire in St Julienne Des Landesand are having a ball now, pity about the first 3 days.

I find that generally the younger folk are more than happy to converse in English, I do however make my initial approach in French, they soon realise it is apalling and speak to me in English.
I do however always like to thank them and make comments along the way in French and it seems to go down OK.
