I would recommend vilanova park Nr Sitges south of Barcelona. Don't know if they take camping cheques but it is quite a large site with pool, shop, good retaurant/cafe. Large pitches most heavily shaded only a few minutes by car to huge beach. Town close by. Buses do come on site - don't know where they go!
Also a Zoo on site. Good rail link into Barcelona
Great ablutions block
Its on this site & C&cc use it.
Only down side are small kerbs you have to mount to get on pitch but everyone helps out

Soss, meant NORTHERN sites, thats why I mentioned Noja, my brain thinking everbody could read it !!
I read well enough what you wrote. In my book Barcelona & Catalonia is Northern Spain - as opposed to southern Spain - the part down the bottom. If you had said you wanted the atlantic coast or North west or cantabria, asturias I would have understood your requirements!!

Had a look at the sites listed on ACSI for the Costa Verde and the Atlantic Coast and although there are plenty listed, most seem to have smallish pitches on terraced sites, I've only used Playa Joyel at Noja in that area but that is probably the one you have already been too.......if not, that's probably as good as you'll get in that area.
Like Steve (millermicm) I would also take Northern Spain to include all the northern area (ie the Mediterranean, the Pyrenees, and the Atlantic coast). I think this would be a common misconception (and I've made more posts than BigBrian, so being a Newbie has nothing to do with it).
I think the main thing, in posting, is to be absolutely clear about what you mean. Often people ask for 'campsites in the south of France' when they actually mean the Cote d'Azur, or the Languedoc, or the Midi-Pyrenees, or the South West coast - adding a couple of extra words to a post can make all the details and help in getting more relevant answers.
I can't add any recommendations for the Atlantic coast of Northern Spain, since we've never done that area, but I'm sure there are many people who have.

we stayed at Olyambra(i think thats how u spell it) 3 yrs ago, about 50miles from Santander,1km from beach, great for surfing, site has a large pool, good restaurant, very clean facilities,a little cramped but i think a lot of spanish sites are like that, the region is lovely although can be a little wet a times which is why it is so green. We camped then, have 2 children got flooded out on the last but one night and the manager of site put us up free of charge in one of their holiday cabins, very friendly but little english spoken in the region but that makes it more of a holiday.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
