We are visiting friends in the South of France in August and would love to rent a caravan in a child friendly site like L`Etang de la Breche on our way home which we have heard great things about. Does anyone know of any statics to rent here or somewhere similar nearby. Ive been on the L`etang website but we cant really afford £1000 for a week.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Do a Google search like 'Saumur camping municipal' or any large town in the area you are looking & you will find websites of local campsites & some will rent statics.
Alternatively you could rent a gite, google for the 'Gites de France' website, with an over supply of Gites in some areas you might grab a bargain.
French rural gites are good and cheap even in high season,as for L etang way overrated chavie englanders don,t you know...well in my stay but others seem to like it.

Got to disagree with you there - we only saw one chav family both years we were there (and both years it was the SAME chav family). Rest were great, decent, clean-mouthed families and we made some excellent friends who we have holidayed with a dozen times since.
I don't know where you stayed, but we were on the main touring field right up at the top where it was secluded and quiet. Wouldn't have wanted to have been in the midst of statics though - too crammed in for my liking.
Perhaps you were just unlucky - we were there in peak season both times and have booked again for this summer as we love the site and the location.

Etang de la Breche os on our short list for our week in France at the end of may. We stayed at Chantepie last August and having stayed overnight at de la Breche before preferred it. We loved the market in saumur and have never been to Doue de la Fontaine either so the area has plenty to occupy us and our daughter will love the site as plenty of things to do and we love the large pitches.
