Apologies if this has been done. Id like some advice on campsites where our little girl 18 months in July can play. She loves to swim so with a pool would be good . I realise that this probably means we wont be using Aires much but thats not a problem we can do that later. In addition my Mum and Dad have bought a motorhome but are cautious about driving abroad thus Ive told them they can follow us . I know my dad will be fine driving after 30 mins abroad. I just wont them to get the best of there motorhome when they retire . They deserve it. A site close to town would be good for them to stroll in . There both easy going so nothing special required. Any help appreciated. Thank-you . Andy

Hi.We also have parents following us this year. We are driving Calais to Bayeux and staying at a Castels site - Chateau Du Martragny (4k from Bayeux). It has a swimming pool, park and they do breakfasts in the chateau. It's also only a short drive to many beaches. Haven't stayed at this site before but the reviews look good on here.

We chose it because the area will be of great interest for my parents but the site seems to have everything for my 8 and 6 year old boys.

Good luck and I'm sure others will have more ideas for you.

Just re-read your post and noticed you're going to Brittany (doh - sorry) - but above is a possibility if you will be staying overnight somewhere on the way from Calais ?

This is one of my regular stops in Brittany...La Vieux Chene http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=9604 . Well run, good pitches, nice pool for kids, very close to Dol-de-Bretagne which has to be one of the loveliest medieval towns in Brittany. Right on the bay of Mont St Michael as well so plenty to visit, including St Malo. (You could get the ferry to St Malo or Cherbourg to cut down the driving in France, btw.)

No reviews! Can you start it off, Val? Dol is nice but we've stayed at the monster Domaine des Ormes a few times.

Dol isn't that far inland ....the sea used to come up to the walls of St Samson. Ten minutes drive through the salt flats and you have the whole bay of Mont-St-Michael as coastline.

I'm not very keen on doing reviews tbh. I'm a bit off centre about the things that I care about on campsite ie toilets and such only register with me at all if they're very bad. But yes, I'll do one for this site when I get a second. I stayed there for four weeks in 2008 with the kids (don't ask...complicated story!!) and I really do like the place.
