We've booked a weeks stay at La Garangeoire, St-Julien-Des-Landes on the Vendee at the end of June/ beginning of July on a family recommendation.
I was wondering if people could let us know of places to visit/ eat/ drink/ see/ the best beaches nearby and basically any helpful information regarding the area so that we can make sure we have a great holiday :) Oh, it's just two adults, no children, so more adult related activities would be best- anyone know any good wine/ cheese tasting?!!
Thanks
Hannah

well worth doing Puy De Fou, even for adults! have a look at a beach guide (google) there's loads of them! worth remembering that the french do lunch big style! and the beaches are quiet then, after the siesta they will be mobbed!
For a night out, go to Les Sables-d'Olonne and take the water taxi across the harbour to La Chaume. Watch the huge ships come into the harbour while you sit at the waterfront restraunts, and bars. When we were there, people put all these wooden table top games the whole way up the road, and you could try all the different types of games as you strolled along. Also, watch on the notice board at the reception, the lady who lives in the Chateau gives guided tours of their land and home, there is also wine tasting nights.
Stayed at Camping Pong at Bretignolles last July, the beach there is really lovely with a cafe, sand and rock pools, there is also an inland pool not far from the beach where you park your cars which is great for the little ones to sail in their dinghes. The market there is really good too, along with a day trip to St Jean De Mont which has fabulous beaches and all the things you associate with a beach. We also took a pedloe out at the Lake nr where you are staying and had a picnic on the bank. Loads to do and we had a 3 year old who loved it. Hope this helps
Go to lac d'Apremont, which is close to the campsite. Spend the morning going along the river in pedalo's (like little venice) then do lunch in the picnic area in the forest. Spend the afternoon at the lakes own beach. The weather will feel much warmer away from the coast and the water in the lake is lovely and warm. But don't tell anyone else, i don't want it full of people when i go in July......

I'd definitely recommend Apremont, it's a lovely place, and if you go into the town not far from the river is the most amazing patisserie, with cakes to die for. If you have children with you, they will also love the lake.

Here is a couple of things to do around this area.
• Planète Sauvage
• Haras de la Vendée
• Chateau de Talmont
• The Maison de la Rivière at Saint-Georges de Montaigu
Vélo-Rail
Also the best aquarium I have ever been to is www.aquarium-larochelle.com.
We were at this Campsite Last year and our Kids loved it so mush that we will be back at La Garangeoire this year again!
We have been to Garangeoire twice now, couldn't get in this year as we left it too late and are instead at Clarys Plage - Garangeoire is fabulous in itself and the smaller bar is mainly frequented by adults in the evening, but there is so much to do nearby too, the Market on Sunday at St Gilles Croix de Vie is wonderful. And there are some lovely little restaurants here too. Have a great time!!
