Hello All,

I am about to embark on a mini camping road trip through, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.

Can someone recommend a campsite in Venice or very close to Venice.

Is there a camping guide with links to campsites? I am looking for no frills basic but clean.

Thanks in advance,

Helen

Oops I should have searched first on here. Apologies. I bet you hate it when newbies ask the same questions over and over again

Hi Helen

Welcome to UKC I'm sure you'll find lots of useful info on here - we certainly do!!

We would recommend Camping Cavallino on the Jesolo Peninsula north of Venice. The site is one of many spread out along the beach of this Peninsula with the warm Adriatic for bathing on "rest" days to recover from Venice. We were in a caravan but they take tents too. There are regular ferries from Punta Sabione at the end of the Peninsula direct to Venice.

You can see my review here:http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=7387. The review includes some info on visiting Venice that you may find useful

I have read through all the tips about camping near Venice. They seem quite costly. I am just looking for a basic campsite to stay just for one evening. We are travelling just by car. I don't mind getting a bus / train into Venice if it means cheaper campsites.

I'm on a tight budget

If you only intend spending a few days in the area and mainly want to see Venice I would suggest this campsite http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=5126 as its within walking distance of the ferries. We have used it twice in the past. Its a fairly small campsite without lots of facilities and as a result it remains fairly quiet and is not too expensive. Last year we went to Camping Ca Savio which whilst being a perfectly good campsite was not as convenient for Venice and very noisy because it has lots of facilities that families like. As they say to pays your money!

We are planning a similar trip ! Last year we planned to stay in Lake Lucerne but on chatting to another family we met in France they recommended Camping Eienwaldli which is a fabulous site,i don't think it's on here but is in the Alan Rogers guide.Great site and beautiful area.
