has anyone stayed at Camping Du Bois Vert near Parthenay?

what was site and surrounding area like?

We had planned to stay at this site at the end of august for a couple of weeks using camping cheques but only stayed overnight.

The reception was very friendly and we could have any pitch we wanted but found the site too small, pitches very uneven and mostly small, swimming pool small, but what stopped us staying was a lack of teenagers for our daughter to mix with (not the sites fault). location was good next to town and the river looked nice. One problem we found was the receptionist was also barmaid and waitress at the same time so service was very very slow in the restaurant. The bar and restaurant are small and would be hard pushed to cope if it was busy. Toilet block was ok luke warm showers and not many of them. The site itself was looking a bit unloved and tired maybe a long hard season but it looked more than that,

Honest opinion I wouldnt go back maybe would use it as a stopover but thats all

I think I am going to go for Camping les Gorges du chambon which I managed to find some reviews for.  I have spent all day looking at various websites and am starting to go boggle eyed! 

We plan to stay for two weeks and Camping les Gorges du chambon seems to tick all of the boxes.  Now all I have to decide on is the route and which Ferry!
