However I have yet to find any ACSI site that accepts the card in August. This for us is the most important thing about camping cheques. I agree about the no shows though.
There are loads of ACSI sites accepting the card in August:
Campsite Yelloh! Village Parc du Val de Loire - from 21 August
Le Moulin Fort - from 25 August
Le Perpetuum - from 23 August
Le Port de Limeuil - from 24 August
Those are just 4 I've found, and there are lots more who accept the card in August. You do need to look them up of course, but your statement that you have yet to find a site that accepts the card in August is simply not true.
Whether you actually mean a site that you've picked to stay on is of course a different matter.
I didn't say there weren't any, I said I hadn't found any
which I can assure you is true - I hadn't found any but as you have I will look again.
I haven't read the book from cover to cover - doesn't everyone just look at the sites in the areas they want to visit. France is a big place!
Yes, that's exactly what we do: look for the area we're going to, then look in ACSI and Camping Cheque books whether there are sites we like the sound of, then see when they accept the card/cheques.
As we are setting off again on the 20th of August, I've been doing just that, and those I quoted were only a few I found, I wasn't going to list them all. But I can assure you that there are plenty which accept the card well before the end of August.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Ina - we might bump into you this time. We're going back early, we think, because a friend of mine may need some looking after in mid-September when we were due to go away! Where are you heading? We haven't decided yet, except that it may include the Pyrenees this time, as the weather may be warm enough, still!
Since the last post I've tried to check the balance of our Gold Card on the Camping Cheque website, and it won't recognise the details, despite inputting everything correctly. Has anyone else had similar problems. I've emailed Chateau de Senard to ask where I'm going wrong!
Incidentally I looked at the letter which accompanied the last CCs we bought (from the Caravan Club) and the letter states that Gold Card bookings must be made ONLY through the Camping Cheque website. I wonder if the problem with 'No Shows' arises when people are making their own booking quoting the Gold Card number? Just a thought!??
I know the site that suzac is on about as I was there at the same time. There has never been a problem in the last 6 years that I know of, in my opinion the owner was penalising everyone for the bad manners of a few. It was pointed out to the owner that some people need a decent sized pitch as we have got longer Vans. Some of the pitches are that small you can only just get a tent on them.
I did say that perhaps one way of resolving the problem was to contact the people responsible and tell them that they would no longer be able to pre book a pitch.
One thing I couldn't understand was if they had got all these no shows then how come that there were very few pitches available during my 3 week stay. Some people were moving pitches a couple of times a week as they had been pre booked. Surely if you have got pitches booked then it is garaunteed money.
The site is a very popular one as it is right on the beach, I have been in reception even this year and they have turned people away.
There were 10 people that I know of that were saying that they would go elsewhere next year. If they had to pay a 30€ booking fee and 25% of there stay in paper cheques which would be taken off of your total at the end. There was another site a few miles up the road that stopped taking CC's and you can get in there anytime.

Hi Val,
where are we heading?? Well, up to now we've already "been" to Chinon, around the Loire, Panorama du Pyla, Ste Foy la Grande, near Bergerac, and even down to the Pyrenees and the north of Spain!!!!
Where we'll actually go? Who knows, we're like you, once we get on the road in France and found where the weather seems best, we head that way.
We do think though that we'll stick to the west side this time, last time we "did" Burgundy and Champagne. But then again, going off past trips, we are very prone to changing at the last minute and ending up somewhere we hadn't even thought off before!!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
