A trip to the green venice is around 1 hour away from Jard sur mer. You can hire a boat from around 15-18 euros for 1 1/2hrs and paddle around a set route down the canals/ irrigation channels ( you get a map.) We went to Maillezais last year - a nice ruined abbey to explore near there. This year we went to Coulon it is busier there but the village is really pretty -(quite touristy) with some nice shops. We got lost this year as we ended up following a guide ( you can hire a guide to do the hard work and paddling for you for extra) thinking he was going our way - he wasnt and we couldnt keep up with him! Monsieur wasnt too impressed when we eventually paddled back! Good fun though.

Beaches -

Plage du conches - good for surfing

Plage du Veillon - busy but nice - amazing kite surfers in the afternoon.

Plage de la mine - fab rock pools

Plage du cant remember but down from La Faute - loads of mussel farms off shore but good for finding shells.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
