Hi, I am new to this site, we are looking to go camping in Jersey, but the ferry cost is really high, can anyone give me any adivce on if Jersey is a good place for camping, worth the money etc....

Can anyone suggest any other places to go, we would like to go out of the uk if possible.

Thanks in advance for your replies..

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

Coming from one who lives on the Island - yes it is a beautiful place, we have some great campsites but as you said the cost of getting here is extortionate (no competition for Condor), petrol costs at the moment are between £1.02 to £1.09 per litre unleaded, diesel slightly higher, the Island is not cheap especially for food shopping, cigarettes and booze can sometimes be cheaper in UK supermarkets than here and our "High Street" has most of the shops you have and charge the same prices, it is nowhere near as cheap a holiday destination as it was in the 60's and 70's and we have our own version of VAT now called GST which is 3%.

I know I should be "selling" Jersey but I think you'd get far better value from your money going to France. Our trips off the rock are hard saved for due to the high cost of the ferry.

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about campsites in Jersey.

I have three sides, left, right and wrong - which one are you on?
