Thinking about taking our tt to France next year - would be our first for us. It would be us and 2 our 2 kids a 7yr old and a 4yr old. Wondering about La Garangeoire or Le Pin Parasol (or possibly others).

We'd like some sunshine; good pools pref incl indoor / covered one; activities for the kids; take away and restaurant. We'd like the site to have enough that we could happily stay on site some days but also have some nice days round and about.

Thoughts?

Le Pin offers everything on your list except a restaurant.  Oh, & guaranteed wall to wall sunshine.  We've just had 2 weeks there & the weather was a bit mixed - some sunny days, some overcast (but still warm) days & rain on a couple of days altho didn't last too long.

The pools are lovely & one is indoors/covered & they organise actvities for kids every day.  There's also plenty to see & do in the general area.  Were going back next year to go to the places we didn't manage to get to this year.

Our 1st experience of camping abroad was great at Le Pin - it's clean, large pitches, very friendly & the staff are fabulous.

Are there cycle paths around and about? Not keen on taking the kids on roads but would like to be able to cycle a bit.

Have a look at Le Bahamas Beach. Close to the cycle path and virtually on the beach. St Gilles is close by for the market, marina shops etc........

And your problem is?  If you don't ike the subject, don't read the thread.  Simples!

With regard to cycling, Le Pin has a little gate you can go through to get to the lake & you can cycle all the way around (it's big) without meeting any traffic.  Can't comment on other sites as this is the only one we've been to but everywhere we went we saw families out on bikes.

We've just got back from Le Pin - great site (I'll do a review tomorrow) but we popped in to look at La Garangeoire and were very impressed. Much prettier than Le Pin (more trees) but forgot to check pitch sizes and their high season price lasts to the end of August, which will make it about 15-20% more expensive over 2 weeks.

The bike ride round the lake at Le Pin is a bit tricky for young ones (we've got a 7 and 4 year-old). I took the youngest on a tag-along and my son was on his own bike but we had to push in several places as some of the path was very narrow and/or steep.

However, there are lots of dedicated bike paths if you can take the bikes in the car - in particular is a route from Brem-sur-Mer to La Salle D'Oblonnes which goes through a forest - lovely! Also, other routes on railway lines (various maps available from reception).

Basically, you wouldn't go wrong at either site. We looked at a couple of sites on the coast and they were MUCH more cramped than the inland ones (small pitches and tiny site roads in between - horrible!).
