Hello. We went to Garanageoire this year and loved it. The daughter loved the horses, the youngest loved the soccer school, the eldest enjoyed dossing about and going on bike rides and we parents enjoyed not having to worry about entertaining the kids.
Does anyone know of any other sites with similar facilities which are as good?

How did you find the site and facilities. I'm interested because I'm going next June for about 10 days
Some years ago I went to Sequoia Park near Royan. We went out of main season but there was still a lot going on for those with children. The site had several entertainment organisors and there seemed to be something every day. But at our age we gave it a miss . They did have horses but only to ride in a corral and not off site. The swimming pool complex was massif but busy so in peak season it may be timed entry. The site did have bikes for hire. All in all I would think in high season it would be busy but very family orientated.
fat budda, sounds daft but were they horses or ponies? Lots of sites have pony rides round the site but we would love a site with horse riding from the site as our daughter is 12 next yr getting too old and big for ponies. Be interested in the replies you get as we are looking for a similar site.
No slides but alot of activiites at the Castels site Les Gorges du Chambon near Angouleme which has an activiites centre next to the site with rock climbing, horse riding and an adventure course I think. We've not been but site gets rave reviews on here. We stayed just one night at Sequoia Park a couple of years ago as whilst the pitches were really good the pool was packed, no chance of getting a lounger unless you were there when it opened at 10am.

Will be interested in this as well, have a 13yr and 15yr old. One likes fishing and the other horse riding, but ponies are no good as she is too big and has three years experience. Neither are into kids clubs, but a good pool is a must, not necessarily one with slides etc.

Look at eurocamp as they go to many of the big sites incl La Garangoire and would give you a good idea of the facilities available, plus they have good vidoes of the many sites on their webpage. We had been thinking of staying at Chateau des Ormes in Brittany which is a similar site.
We have stayed at Ty Nadan in Brittany, different levels of horse riding, quad bikes, paint ball, kayaking, zip wires, by a river, and still more. They are all extra charges but we added that into costing the holiday. Never saw our son other than when he was hungry. Sadly weather can be 'iffy' but indoor pool and lots to look at in the area.

Agree with brianconwy a pony is anything under 14 hands and to ride some fiesty ponies takes more than 3 years experience, where as on the other hand a shire is a piece of cake, so yes whether you ride a horse or pony is down to weight more than experience.
Ta for the tips, We have looked at Ty Nadan in the past, but the Mrs would rather go further south, even if it's only the Vendee, as she worries about the weather.
Garangeiore was great, and I can see us going back. They had the friendliest staff I have ever come across, the pool was good enough, but if you couldn't find a lounger, comfort became an issue. The lakes were great and real oases of calm, the bike riding, on and off road was brilliant. Apremont, 15 minutes away is lovely, plenty of beaches an easy drive away.
There is riding to suit everyone. Ponies around the site for the little 'uns, (you can even get to paint them) and horses for longer rides, off site. I think they had one hour, two and four hour rides. My daugter spent all day, every day at the stables, helping out, and made loads of horsey
friends.
A plus for us was that, with the exception of one or two happy campers, the site was very quiet at night. Usually couldn't hear a pin drop after about 11.30.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
