Have stayed at a few sites on the I'll de Re but not that one, however most sites are adjacent or very near to the cycle tracks.

Only been in September though and the cycle tracks were quite busy then so they will be very busy in high season but end June you should be okay.

Bridge expensive though at that time something like £25 or so but you only pay one way.

Hi Grahama

We visited Ile de Re in August 2008 on the way home from the Pyrenees. It was a last minute decision and the only site that we could find with space was Camping Le Providence at Portes-en-Re. We booked by phone the day before we travelled.

Our review, and one other, can be found here:
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2969

This was a very French site at the northern end of the island but it fits your requirements of being very near to village and beach. As Mike has already said most places are near to the cycle paths. We used our bikes a lot

Although the toll bridge to the island is expensive to we did not find the need to leave during our 11 night stay. There is a good range of shops, including some large supermarkets in the main towns.

We enjyoyed our stay on the Ile de Re.

Best wishes
Tim
