Hello everyone

Weve had a touring caravan and now weve decided to try a tent and  really could do with some advise!!!

we want to go to south of france mediteranean ,near the sea where we can ride our cycles prefrably dedicated cycle paths. We decided on this region because of the warmer climate. can anyone suggest any good sites thats not too expensive we want electric, we are looking to buy a tent also any sites that also hire erected tents that are reasonably priced.

any advise will be really helpfull

If you want a pre erected tent try eurocamp or canvas, if you are going out of school holidays it often works out cheaper than taking your own. Vacansoleille have got lots of really nice sites with ready tents and on their site you can search for areas based on a tent rather than all their accommodation.

If you can go out of high season try camping cheques

http://order.campingcheque.co.uk/?gclid=CMbb0uqY3aUCFYUe4QodqzHm0Q

or an ACSI card

http://www.vicarious-shop.com/product.php?productid=97&cat=2&page=1&gclid=CPfqmZTk0qYCFQUTfAodkE3sMw

big savings to be made with either.

I think you may struggle to find a site near the sea, with a ready-erected tent, during those weeks in July.  This is right in the middle of the peak season in France.  You may be better looking inland a little, on a smaller site, and taking your own tent with you and looking for a camping pitch, rather than trying to find the 'needle in the haystack' of a site you like the look of, which has ready erected tents, and has a vacant tent for the weeks you want.

What about the site mentioned in another post - Camping Municipal de la Plage, near Canet en Rousillon (down towards the Spanish border, so some trips into Spain possible, too) - around 30 euros per night for pitch, two people, tent and electricity.  Not a bad price for a beachside pitch, in peak season.  Most sites near the beach will cost quite a lot more.

They still appear to have vacant pitches from the 23rd July.

Good luck, and I hope you find what you're looking for.

We have a favourite site on the Cote d'Azur, Camping de la Brague, I've reviewed it on here. It's on the coast opposite Biot station where you can catch a train to all the towns along the coast. We cycle a lot, into Antibes, or the other way into Cagnes sur Mer which has a fantastic promenade and dedicated cycle route. Never been in the summer though, so don't know how busy it is, but not cheap.
There's also Camping du Pylone, just behind, we weren't as keen on that but it was ok.

Try to buy a Poly Cotton type tent, as the Polyester ones are very hot inside.

We bought a SH Outwell Shasta Lake, for just less than £200, and it is a far more comfortable tent to be in rather than the synthetic ones.

Apologies if this is telling Granny how to suck eggs.

Regards,
Jim.

It will be hot, 30+ every day maybe hitting 40 if its a heatwave, too hot for me to go biking!! walks to the beach and showers are enough! pick a shaded in the morning pitch unless you like waking up in a pool of sweat and unable to breathe !
