Does anyone have a recommendation on a non-commercialised Campsite, about 6 hours from La Havre. It can either be on the coast or more central.  We have young children and ideally would like the campsite to have a swimming pool or river/lake near by if not a beach. We have been looking at the Poitou Charentes area, but are open to other areas within about 6 hours from the port.

What about Ile De Re, camping interlude, or there are some delightful campsites around La Tranche Sur Mer which have lovely cycle paths to the beach
Try Les dunes at Bretignolles
Zagarella
Oceano dor at Jard sur mer
Le littoral (now yelloh)

Have stayed at all of these, great for kids, not noisey, near to beaches, good luck.

we're going to Gorges du Chambon a Castels site which you could do in 6 hrs from Le havre for the 1st time this August. Gets excellent reviews on here and we really rate castel sites.

savanne1

To your response I have looked at Gorges de Chambon several times and no other campsite compares. The only thing holding me back is the cost in comparison to some of the other smaller campsites. If I'm reading it correct for a tent, 2 adults and 2 children for say 7-8 days I'm looking at £250.00. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Warbiss 66 - I will take a look at your recommended campsites. Thanks.

we booked the site through the Caravan Club as was slightly cheaper than booking direct.

What dates are you looking at and how old are the children?

This was a site somebody recommended recently and seems reasonably priced.  Have a look
