Can forum members tell me about their experiences using the tunnel on their way to France. In particular, transportation of flammable substances - camping gaz, propane cylinders, coleman fuel etc. What do they and what dont they allow. I have read about airlines but not the tunnel. For an instance how do they view full/part full/empty coleman fuel/petrol lanterns?

They have only asked me if i was carrying any gas once,  last year when the automatic check in wasn't working.  I just told them i did have a calor bottle and yes it was turned off, there was no problem.  I've taken a tin of coleman fuel and a full 2 burner stove tank and small tins of campingaz too.  Never had any problem.  They do pull over caravans and check they have the gas cylinders off.

Like people have said above - no problem with camping fuel.

As for everything else it's so much quicker and convenient than any ferry - especially with kids.

We are heading for Club Camping Perroquet nr dunkirque, and looking forward to it. Have decided to go for camping gaz lantern rather than the coleman one that we have, this will save some space and know that we will be able to buy the cartridges over there. Come on, lets go!

We've booked into there for our first overnight on the way to Germany, Poland and Czech Republic.  May book as last two nights on the return journey if we like it.  The reviews are quite positive.
