We are considering booking La Croix Du Vieux Pont for 2 weeks in July/August and was wondering if anyone could tell me a little about the area.
I would love to find a market to get fresh fruit, cheese, breads and meat that is not too far away or is there a village that we could get all this from. Are there any supermarkets near to get the essentials - beer, vodka, wine etc
Finally is there a website that tells you about these places and what is around so we have a little background knowledge for when we get there - never been to France before.
Thanks

We have stayed at this site and walked into the village to a market - about a 10 min walk - also the campsite has quite a well stocked shop but also within walking distance there is a local supermarket which we would walk or cycle to.
Well you have to splurge when your on your hols with the essentials!
Thank you for your help - do you know if there was a weekly market anywhere near to the site.
hmmm ... we never went to / saw a market ,but i *think* there was one advertised in the reps caravan.. they have all the local info / things to do / places to go etc
or you could email the site directly, they are very helpful
There is a big market in Soissons, which is the nearest large town, I think twice weekly, but I may be wrong. Check out the link for more information about the area.

We have been twice and there is a market on in village once or twice a week nice little market. As above Soissons is very nice and good market but they do sell live stock also like chickens and stuff so be aware. Also a Large town of Championge (spelling) the site is lovely and ideal for sight seeing
Were taking our gang back to Berney Riviere again this year , and its a great site , nice village with agood bakery, and there is a decent supermarket about 2mins from the site on a back street , which had a decent meat counter, fish etc , and they always have plenty of cheeses, and there is also a quite big supermarket on the right as you head into Soissons , I remember that one because we spent 180 euros in there ! Compiegne is worth a visit ,lovely town on a river, the river Oise I believe , also a lovely forest too .We did'nt go out from the campsite too much , there was so much going on there . You'll enjoy yourselves at berny Riviere ,we always do ! Word of warning, if you take any young kids for the advertised " horse riding " be wary of the Shetlands , they are quite a handful , as the people at the school just tell you to take the ponies your selves , and as I say they are quite fiesty ! Well , for some one like me who was expecting the grandkids to have something like a donkey ride on the beach .! Anyway enjoy your holiday ,
Vic sur Aisne is the nearest village with a fair range of shops; Berny Riviere is a small area where 'Chez Micheline' is (recommended restaurant which is also a tabac).
We've been to the campsite lots of times but only in October half term. The market in Vic during the week is very small, thou' it maybe grows in size in summer. There is also a market in Compiegne & Pierrefonds as well I think but never been in either town when they were taking place,
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
