We have normally used the nearest supermarket, mostly Intermarche, then Leclerc or Carrefour. On our recent stay on the Cote d'Azur, we decided to use a Geant Casino near Cagnes sur Mer, which we have used before but didn't think was anything special. This time, it was superb! OH was very impressed by the selection of breads, so many it was hard to choose. There was a 'kitchen prep' area in the middle where the staff were preparing fresh fruits, a variety of hot foods, and patisserie. Huge variety of wines and spirits too. We spent ages in there, it had air con too. It reminded me of the Carrefour at Cite Europe when it was first open, but has steadily gone downhill since.
We think the Geant has developed because of the cosmopolitan area it is in.

We have a few Netto's too. I think it is part of the Mousquetaire/Intermarche group.

Do they have a listing for the French supermarkets, that have the assistants whizzing around on roller skates.

Those are my favourite ones!.

Have seen them at Antibes and Chalon-Sur-Saone, so I guess they are all over the place!. it certainley makes supermarket shopping far more pleasurable than here in the UK!.
