Any good web sites that list campsites in france, or better still specific recommendations.

Planning to go next summer with the children (6 and 3) in our frame tent, probably using speed ferries to Boulogne as cheap!, hence some sites in this area would be good.  Alternately, if there is a better area within driving distance, I would be interested.

Would like one near a nice beach, but my french geography is not great, so don't know best beach areas either!

Generally prefer quiet sites, as the kids can amus themselves, though the usual good showers etc needed.

Any thoughts or links welcome.

Thanks, Alistair

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

Welcome

If you were willing to drive a bit further afield then (in my opinion) you can't beat the Vendee for the best beaches and most consistent sun record without driving all the way down the Med.

There are many posts on this forum about sites in the Vendee - try this site for links to many caravan site web sites.

I personally recommend Camping Du Jard which has a decent pool complex and is only 1k from the beach - although it is 3k from the main town - La Tranche sur Mer.

If you cross from Portsmouth to St Malo it leaves about a 4 hour drive to the area.

Happy hunting
