Hi, we're looking for a good campsite in the Auvergne region of France.
Has anyone stayed at Camping Beau Rivage, near the town of Vichy?
Can't seem to find many reviews on it.
Thanks

Don't know about the site and I wonder if Vichy is the right place: it's not typical of the Auvergne. Depends what you want I suppose: Vichy is interesting enough but we felt we'd 'done it' in one day. It's in pleasant countryside but it's rolling hills rather than the bigger peeks of the central/southern Auvergne. If it's big hills, lakes and rivers you want then you should be looking at Clermont-Ferrand and south/west of there.

Spot on Paul. You are so right. Ade, have a look at what "Rough Guide" says about Vichy - full of elderly, rich, genteel invalids who have come to "take the waters" in the hope of a cure. So unless you are in a wheel chair, best leave it to them. As Paul says, a day trip is enough. We have French friends who laugh and make jokes about Vichy.

Good advice, thanks!
Any recommendations for sites around the central/southern Auvergne?
Cheers!

I've only done municipals - plenty of them around. La Bourboule makes a good starting point but there are reviews for other sites - Mont d'Or, Murol, Super-Besse ....

Le Pres Bas Lac Chambon we liked or La Ribeyre is popular. Depends what you want from a site.------------- Marz
