changed our plans for summer trip to France, going to Switzerland - 1 week, Annecy - 1 week then to Ardeche. Need help finding a site, not many reviews on here. Fancy vallon pont d arc, possibly near river. tried finding sites on google earth but not having much luck. 3 sites in ACSI book but no reviews on here, has anyone stayed at any of them. Beau rivage, International or domaine de chadeyron or has any one any other site suggestions, will be there the last week in june, dont want to book just turn up, but like a bargain! Would have liked L Ardechois but at 36 euros a night its a no no. J x
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We use a campsite at Bollene called "Camping de la Simioune, its definately a bargain 12 euro's a night (approx) and you can just turn up, there is a small swimming pool and a smal bar/rest, plenty of walking and cycling and chateau's that sell there own wine ( that need to be sampled of course), its not 5 star by any means, but lovelly
We've stayed at Camping Ranc Davaine l(ACSI)ots of times. In low season it's a lovely site - or we liked it. However, in recent years there are more statics, changing the atmosphere a bit. However, the setting in oak woodland, alongside the Chassezac river is lovely, especially the pitches on the area nearest to the river. It's a little way out of the main towns (Ruoms/Vallon) but it's certainly a site we'd go back to. The pool complex is fantastic and the sanitary facilities were always kept very clean.
We've had a good look around Camping International, which is right alongside the Ardeche river, and in a good position for walks into Vallon Pont d'Arc. It has only a small pool, good sized pitches, and apparently the sanitary block has been upgraded since we looked around. The riverside pitches were lovely. Beau Rivage is similarly well placed, but Domaine de Chadeyron is further out into the countryside.
We also liked Bastide en Ardeche - mentioned in the above post! My review is on here.
