We're planning a trip in our Motorhome from UK to Costa Blanca (Denia) in July and wondered if anyone had any useful tips on places to stay, best routes to use etc please?

We have 4 children aged 3, 5, 8 & 10. We plan to drive between around 09:30 to 4pm then pitch for the night, hopefully with swimming & playground facilities so that the kids can burn off some energy.

We've done this trip once before 2 years ago but it was very higgledy piggledy! We took a tent and just stopped wherever we found an available camp site, but it wasn't ideal as we sometimes ended up putting a tent up late at night with very hungry/grizzly children which we definately want to avoid this time

We are happy to take 4-5 days to reach our destination and would love to see some great sites on the way. We want to avoid the toll roads but are a little concerned about ending up on tiny narrow roads in our motorhome as we did in our car

Any tips, suggestions, ideas, campsite locations etc would be very appreciated, thank you

Hi,

We've done South of France or Northern Spain for the past 14 years and the following overnight stops not only have we found by accident, but we use them for every trip to the above areas.

Calais/Zeebrugge- Troyes (5 hours) "Camping plan d'Eau des Terres Rouges", Man made beach/lake with inflatables for all ages, not alot there but for 12 euros a night is perfect for an overnight

Troyes- Bollene (6-7 hours) " Camping de la Simioune" pool, table tennis and small cheap restaraunt again 12 euros a night

Bollene- Narbonne (5-6 hours) "Camping La Nautique" all facilities inc pool, each pitch has own shower/w.c.

As far as Spain is concerned, after the above, not had to travel much further a normal  days drive !

Hope this gives you some ideas

You could always try the French vineyards stay for free but must be self sufficant

N.B. all of the above no need to book

Dave

I forgot to ask - Is there any form of club worth joining for discounts? Having 4 children doubles the price

The Camping La Nautique looks absolutely amazing but unfortunately it is 42euros per night for us and the MH, plus another 8 euros for each child so would cost us 74euros plus the taxes - bit OTT for us for a 15hr stay

Would leave the children at home with my parents but it's them we're going to see
