I'm booking campsites online in northern France, but am not sure about security of payments on-line.
Before proceeding to the payment page, the site said it had SSL security provide by Thwate. However, when I went onto the payment, there was only http:// instead of the usual http:s// that you would see in the UK (my computer never has a padlock item in making payments).
Does anyone know if this is normal when using French internet sites?
It is listed in the Camping Card ACSI handbook, so I am assuming that it is a reliable site.
Holidays are such fun booking !!??
Thanks muchly
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I think the problem is not necessarily the French campsite but more the way it is transmitted from your computer to theirs. If I understand it correctly the https sends information in encripted form where as without the s it can be intercepted by someone else. But the risk would be if it was done over an open network. So if it is done from a home network with protected access the risk would not be as great. I am surprised that a third party payment taker does not use secure transfer. Perhaps it does if you go further into the process?
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
